NODEMONKES
The Nodemonkes are 10,000 unique collectible monkes — each one a 28×28-pixel character written directly onto the Bitcoin blockchain in February 2023 as ordinals inscriptions #83,522–#111,319, making them among the first 10k profile-picture collections to live entirely on-chain. There are no servers and no separate image files: every monke is part of Bitcoin itself, as permanent as the chain that carries it. They are the work of two pseudonymous artists, Nodetoshi and Monketoshi, who drew on Bitcoin's technology and economics, the ordinals protocol, libertarian values, and the wider culture of digital art and NFTs.
Within the strict 28×28 grid the variation is endless — no two monkes share the same combination of body, traits and colors. Monkedex is a non-custodial marketplace for them: every trade is a wallet-signed PSBT settled on-chain, custody outputs always keep a maker-side recovery path, and this site never holds your keys or your monkes.
